BREC announced today the event schedule for Celebration in the Park, a community event celebrating the re-opening of City-Brooks Community Park. Events will be held all day...details and parking information are available online at www.brec.org/cityparkopening.
Schedule of Events:
8:30 a.m. ....Ribbon Cutting & Marker Dedication at Historic City Park Golf Course
Course opens for play immediately following the ceremony. Shotgun starts for opening weekend at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Contact the Pro Shop at (225) 387-9523 to reserve a time.**
10 a.m. ......Interfaith Dedication of the Labyrinth
11 a.m. ......Ribbon Cutting at Raising Cane's Dog Park
12 p.m. ......Kid's Celebration on Picnic Hill from noon-1:30 p.m.
1 p.m..........Ribbon Cutting at the Capital One Tennis Center & Open House featuring adult and youth prize courts from 1:30-6 p.m.
Children's Village at Brooks Field from 1-4 p.m.
LIVE Music on Picnic Hill from 1-4 p.m.
3 p.m. .......Parade to Picnic Hill
Beginning at in Children's Village at Brooks Field, near Eddie Robinson Street
5 p.m. .......City-Brooks Community Park Grand Re-Opening Ceremony on Picnic Hill
5:30 p.m. ...Reception Featuring Local Artists & Exhibits at the Baton Rouge Gallery
8 p.m. .......Movies & Music on the Lawn near the Baton Rouge Gallery featuring Charlie Chaplin in the 1928 film "The Circus"
In case of rain, these events will be held on Sunday, June 1.
Regular green fees for play at Historic City Park Golf Course. All other events are free and open to the public.
