‘Bayou Billionaires’ continue Shreveport success with highest ratings for CMT
SHREVEPORT, LA (FOX44) — Last night a Shreveport-based animation team won big at the Oscars, but that's not the only big hit coming out of that city.
“Bayou Billionaires” is the latest Louisiana-based reality show to hit the airwaves.
Already - it's getting big numbers. The show premièred on Saturday, January 21 as CMT’s highest-rated original series telecast in the network’s history
The show follows the real-life success story of one family, The Dowdens, who struck it rich off the oil industry.
This is just one of three reality shows being filmed around Shreveport.
Although some will say it's the tax credits grabbing the production companies attention - this family says the reason they keep coming back, is all about attitude.
"That production company that came down here, they fell in love with us,” Gerald Dowden, patriarch of the family, explained. “They wanted to move back down here, you know.”
“Southern hospitality,” Kitten Dowden, added. “We've had it forever and we're really friendly people and the people enjoyed being here and it's fun and it's good for our economy. We love it!"
New episodes premiere weekly on Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. central.
