15 people shot, 2 killed in separate New Orleans shootings
NEW ORLEANS, LA (FOX8) - A 25-year-old local man was killed and seven others shot after a shooting this morning in the French Quarter.
The shooting happened shortly after midnight at Bourbon and Saint Louis streets.
The 25-year-old man was shot several times and died at the hospital.
A 19-year-old female was shot in the hip, a 25-year-old female was struck to the wrist and a 30-year-old female was struck in the leg. A 50-year-old man was shot in the foot, a 40-year-old man was struck to left ankle and thigh, and a 24 and 26-year-old man were also struck to the leg. The injuries to those victims appeared non life threatening.
Police say one or two people were shooting or shooting at each other when eight people were struck by the gunfire. The cause of that shooting is still under investigation.
At 1:46 a.m., one person were killed and three people were injured in a separate shooting near Canal and Burgundy streets.
Two people were arrested shortly after that shooting.
Two hours later, one person was shot at the corner of Spain and North Prieur streets. His condition has not been released.
One hour after that, two people were shot in the 1200 block of Louisa St. in the Ninth Ward. One victim was shot in the head.
