3 finalists named for EBR Superintendent job

BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) The East Baton Rouge School Board has named 3 finalists in their Superintendent search. Bernard Taylor, H. Allen Smith II, and Maria Pitre-Martin were selected by a search firm and will begin interviews Monday, March 19.

Taylor is the current Superintendent of Schools in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Smith is the Executive Director of the Summit Schools Network in Denver, Colorado. Pitre-Martin is the director of K-12 curriculum and instruction for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. This will be Martin's second interview for the job.

The School Board has scheduled workshops beginning at 5 p.m. for each interview session. The workshops will take place at the Instructional Resource Center located at 1022 S. Foster Drive. The public is invited to attend.

The EBR school board plans to have a new Superintendent named by March 22. The announcement is expected to be made at a special board meeting that night. The person selected will replace former Superintendent of EBR Schools John Dilworth.
