NAPOLEONVILLE, LA — On Tuesday, Oct. 25, just before 4:00 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a call concerning a robbery at the St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery in Napoleonville.
When they got there deputies contacted the 88-year-old male victim who reported that he was working in the cemetery when he was attacked by an unknown male assailant. The victim said that he had just finished pressure washing a tomb and was in the process of loading his equipment into his truck when he was attacked from behind. The assailant placed him in a choke hold and removed his wallet from his pants pocket. The assailant then pushed the victim causing him to injure his arm on a nearby tomb. The assailant then fled on foot from the cemetery.
The victim was subsequently transported to the Assumption Community Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service. He was treated and released for injuries to his neck and arm.
On Wednesday afternoon investigators developed information which led to the recovery of a key piece of evidence. This item will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
