Armed bank robber has Sheriff tracking suspect

BATON ROUGE, LA — East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Detectives responded to a bank robbery at approximately 1:00 p.m. today at the Chase Bank located at 6170 Jones Creek.

According to reports, the man reportedly entered the bank armed with a pistol and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the bank on foot running south on Jones Creek.

The man was reportedly wearing a dark-colored camouflage hooded jacket, a black sheer-type face mask, dark gloves and black pants. He is described as approximately 6'2" with a slim build.

The man also reportedly attempted to enter the Regions Bank on Jones Creek, prior to Chase, but was unable to enter.

Detectives, deputies and K-9 have saturated the area looking for the suspect. Southeast Middle and Woodlawn Middle schools have been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
