Armed robber holds up Whitney bank wearing Mardi Gras mask

BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — As the storm began clearing over Baton Rouge, an armed robbery happened at the Whitney Bank on Industriplex. We’re told the suspect got away with cash and was wearing a Mardi Gras mask.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene at around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21. We’re told the man entered the bank wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and a Mardi Gras mask with a blue bandana.

According to deputies the man pulled out a gun and jumped over the teller’s counter. He demanded money and managed to get away with an undisclosed amount.

No one was inside the bank at the time except for employees.

The robber fled on foot and deputies are currently tracking him down with K-9 units.
