NATIONAL (FOX44) - A newly discovered asteroid came within seventy-five hundred miles of Earth this afternoon.
The asteroid, named 20-11 MD passed by Earth at around noon on June 27th.
It was between fifteen and sixty feet in diameter.
It's a rare event, says Highland Road Park Observatory manager Christopher Kersey.
A smaller asteroid actually struck earth back in 2008.
