BATON ROUGE (FOX44) - Today state Education and state Veteran officials had a lot to say about the recent budget cuts made by the House Appropriations Committee.
Interim State Superintendent of Education Ollie Tyler said the 11 million dollars in cuts would come out of schools in Louisiana, and into the hole in the budget, if legislators get their way.
In addition, Secretary of Veteran Affairs Lane Carson says their budget will get a 12 million dollar cut.
Carson says for those veterans not to have the resources they need, that's too much money lost.
"It is un reasonable and unfair we think, to shift this burden to the schools and students." said Tyler
"That's all we got 5 million dollars to do everything else the department of veteran's affairs does, and that's why these cuts are going to have such a traumatic impact." said Carson
