HOLLYWOOD, CA (FOX44) – New sci-fi action thriller "Battleship" takes you through the rough waters of aliens battling it out with a Navy team at sea. Stars of the film dish on how they trained for the film, while Rihanna gets a bite from the acting bug.
The movie "Battleship" sets sail on an action packed adventure that's loosely based on the classic game, set in Hawaii, the film follows sailors who discover an alien invasion, while performing exercises in the Pacific. The cast says it offers something for everyone.
Decker says: "The music plays into it, the patriotism plays into it, the fact that we have this really fun new cast it really does it taps you into that 8-year-old, 10-year-old, 12-year-old little guy in all of us. You want to grit your teeth and fight something."
Kitsch says: "It really is a love story at the end of it, it’s just aliens get in the middle of it basically if you really want to boil it down to something simple.”
Some scenes were shot on Navy ships, with current and former members of the military appearing in the film.
Decker says: "We actually used veterans and active military as actors in the film, not just extras, actors in the movie."
Rihanna says: "I felt very honored to be a part of this film and the movie and having the Navy be a part of it. So supportive, they were here every step of the way. "
Kitsch says: "This was my office for 3 ½-months and when you can shut down the Missouri and work on ‘Battleship’ row and be a part of that and be surrounded by the true heroes and the Naval officers, it was great.”
Rihanna says: "It was intimidating for me because now I’m like, oh my gosh, no, I don't know what I’m doing wrong because there's a professional right here. That was really good though, they were very, very helpful.”
Music superstar Rihanna can add action hero to her resume, she already has plans for her next role.
Rihanna says: "I want to try comedy, I really do. I love watching comedy and it seems like something that would be fun to shoot."
