WASHINTON, D.C. (FOX44) - Representatives from the House pass the bill to raise the nation's debt ceiling.
Adding to the drama, U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords appeared on the house floor to vote "yes."
This was the Arizona Democrats first appearance there since being shot in the face in Tucson in January.
She said, quote "I had to be here for this vote."
Still, many fellow Democrats hate the compromise, because the legislation would cut more than 2 trillion dollars in spending over the next 10 years and raise the nation's debt ceiling two-point-four trillion, extending it through early 2013.
The senate will vote on the legislation Tuesday, August, 2nd where it must be signed by President Obama by midnight
