BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - Saturday Glen Oaks residents re-opened a new bridge that has been under repair for more than two years.
At the corner of Sumrall and Bluegrass road, a bridge that was the entire neighborhood's only way in or out was reopened today.
The neighborhood is overjoyed that it's completed, and more so, because of the closure, the bridge is completely safe for anyone to drive on.
Larry Hawkins says it's inconvenient, but he'd rather be safe than sorry.
"The Pilings that they're using today are much better, the cross ties and the pilings that they had before were always eroded and rotten, concrete wont be able to rot, so this is a better plan, better idea, better construction." -Glen Oaks Resident, Larry Hawkins said.
