BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A 43-year old man has been arrested for seven counts of arson in the Baton Rouge area. The arrest happened on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department says that Brian Barton is the man responsible for a fire that started at a home on Convention Street. That fire was started around 1:30 in the morning on the same day as his arrest.

Seven people, 2 adults and 5 children, were inside the home at the time the blaze broke out. Investigators at the scene attempted to question Barton, who was watching from a home across the street. A short chase ensued and Barton was taken into custody.
