THIBODAUX, LA (FOX44) -- Thibodaux Police say 30 year old Jeremiah Wright has confessed to killing his girlfriend's 7-year-old son, saying he dismembered the boy over the kitchen sink. He is being held on $5mil bond.
The boy was killed Sunday afternoon. We're told a passerby spotted the head of the young boy near the sidewalk of their home on West 7th Street. That person called police, who found the rest of Jori Lirette’s remains in a garbage can.
Police Chief Scott Silverii tells WDSU in New Orleans Jori was a second-grade student at South Thibodaux Elementary School. He had special needs and used a wheelchair.
His mother was not at home when the boy was killed. Police say she had to be hospitalized after being told what happened to her son.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. We will continue updating this story online and on FOX44 News at 9 p.m. with any new information.
