Developers say they'll build more as demand grows
BATON ROUGE, La (WGMB)--Construction is underway at a controversial mixed development project in Baton Rouge.
The Rouzan project is in the first stages of development. The 120 acre property will bring restaurants, a school, a church and an entire community of apartments and houses when it's finished.
Developer Tommy Spinosa says the economy has played a factor in previous projects like Perkins Rowe. So this time the company is playing it safe.
"We've got to make absolutely sure that not only ourselves that all of our tenants survive," says Spinosa. "Really the best way to do that is to slow things down and let the demand come to you."
The project will continue to expand over the next five years.
