CLEVELAND, Oh (FOX44) - An Ohio judge upholds a jury recommendation that a convicted serial killer be put to death for the murders of eleven women.
51-year old Anthony Sowell sat still, with his eyes closed, as a judge read out the multiple death sentences.
Sowell never looked at the victim's relatives as they spoke during the sentencing hearing, dozens of whom were in the Cleveland courtroom.
Sowell was arrested on Halloween 2009, two days after police went to his house on a sexual-assault complaint and began finding bodies.
He was convicted in July on 82 counts including aggravated murder, kidnapping, and corpse abuse.
The judge could have overruled jurors and imposed a life sentence.
Sowell's lawyers had asked for life in prison for their client.
