Copper thieves caught in Tangipahoa parish
LORANGER, LA (FOX44) - Tangipahoa Sheriff's Deputies caught two copper thieves Thursday thanks to a concerned citizen.
Deputies said the caller gave them the model and license plate of a strange vehicle parked at the intersection of Straughan Nursery road and Corey road.
Deputies then found James Mcgee, 32, walking near the intersection with a backpack full of copper wiring.
Mcgee admitted to police that he'd taken the wiring from an abandoned house.
Then Mcgee's girlfriend, Amy Bennett, 33, showed up looking for Mcgee.
Mcgee admitted she helped drive her boyfriend during the crime.
Both Mcgee and Bennett now face burglary charges.
