BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - Sunday one Shreveport woman was awarded one of the highest military honors for civilians.
Marilyn Potts from Sherveport has had most of her family serve in foreign wars.
She says since it's her family over there too, she would do whatever she could to support them, by sending them care packages and letters.
Potts did so much work for the troops that Sunday she was surprised by being awarded the Louisiana Distinguished Civilian Medal.
She said, she's shocked to have this award, because she was just doing what she could for the troops.
"If i can't be over there myself, doing something, then I want to give them all the backup that I can give them, and God has blessed us so i'm just paying it forward," said Potts.
