BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - Jury selection in the Second Degree Murder trial of Greg Harris is expected to resume on the morning of March 23.
It was put on hold after Harris' attorney asked the judge and the entire 19th Judicial District Court to recuse themselves.
Harris, who's from Baker, is accused of stabbing his wife, Chiquita Tate, back in Feb. 2009. Tate was a prominent Baton Rouge attorney.
Defense attorney Lewis Unglesby made the request to have the judges recused saying that a taped jail house phone conversation between Tate's sister and Greg Harris indicated Tate may have dug up dirt on two judges in the courthouse.
Unglesby argued the conversation could show a possible motive behind Tate's murder."I really believe that they ought to reconsider the entire prosecution and reinvestigate the whole case, because somewhere out here is a murderer," stated Unglesby.
The trial is expected to take up to two weeks.
