BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — In front of a packed council chamber - the head of State Police, his family, and dozens of members of the Baton Rouge Police Department, Chief Donald Dewayne White became the new chief of BRPD.
After a few words, he had a message for the Mayor.
"Mr. Mayor, I will not let you down, I will not let the citizens down", says White.
Interim Chief Charles Mondrick says he'll go back into retirement and help with the Central Fire Department.
White says he has a list of ways to help curb crime in the Capital City. He says he'll address the police force first, then make his ideas public.
