BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden teamed up with Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and Mary Bird perkins Cancer Center today to celebrate a tradition five years in the making.
It's the fifth annual "Fest for Life", a chance for capitol city residents to get free Cancer screenings while enjoyng free food, and live entertainment.
The event highlights Minority Cancer Awareness Week.
Mayor-President Holden says these types of screenings help catch Cancer early, so you can get treated before it's too late.
"This is really a life or death matter if you neglect it. So we're trying to say you have to go out there and get those tests done, and there is hope we'll stamp out the dreadful disease," said Mayor-President Kip Holden.
