Errors doom Lions, Tigers win 7-3

LSU stays unbeaten on the year

BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - LSU scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning and went on to beat in-state foe Southeastern, 7-3. Tyler Jones (2-0) pitched 6.1 innings allowing only two earned runs and striking out four in his second start as an LSU Tiger. Designated Hitter Raph Rhymes had two hits and two runs batted in to help LSU remain undefeated.

The Lion's (6-2) committed six errors on the night. Three of those errors occurred during the second inning in which LSU (8-0) scored four runs.

A paid attendance of 11,307 and an actual attendance mark of 7,903 are Alex Box Stadium records for a midweek game.

"I put a lot of pressure on our team before this game," LSU Head Coach Paul Mainieri said. "I wanted them to embrace a big-game atmosphere, and I thought they played very well in this environment. We're going to be in many more big games this year, and I was proud of the way the players responded tonight."
