Asking anyone who knows anything about his disappearance to step forward
ST. AMANT, La (FOX44) -- Three years after a St. Amant man went missing, his family is still searching for answers. They're calling on people in the community to step forward if they know something about his disappearance.
After three years of waiting for her son to return, Christine Alexis refuses to lose hope. "I have not given up that someday he's coming home," she says.
Family members last saw Robert Alexis in January 2008. His vehicle was found in a ditch on Becco Road in Ascension parish, but he was nowhere to be found. "It's like he was just some kind of Houdini that disappeared," says Alexis.
Phone calls went unanswered. "He always kept in close contact with us, so it's impossible that he wouldn't have called one of us," she says. Long days and nights of searching left the family without any leads. "His dad and brother searched every inch of these woods," she explains.
Now, some of his family fears the worst. "It's been three years. He's not coming home. That's the reality of it," says his sister Alyison. "Seven days after he went missing, I had somebody come up to me and say that when I find him, I'm going to find him as a skeleton."
The family says no one in the town is talking. "I know somebody out there knows something," his mother says.
The family just wants someone to solve this mystery. "What if it was someone in your family?" his 13-year-old daughter, Megan, asks. "You would want answers too."
For the Alexis family, any news is better than no news. "I want justice to be served is what I want," says Alyison. "I want my brother to be put to rest. I want my family to have answers."
So they continue to stand watch, searching for relief from the uncertainty.
Authorities are still looking for new leads on his whereabouts. Call CrimeStoppers with any information.
