BOGALUSA, La (FOX44) – A Bogalusa man has been arrested for being involved in a fatal car accident that occured on March 11.
Louisiana State Police officers were called out to an accident on Highway 21 near the St. Tammany and Washington Parish lines.
They deducted that Grant Paquid, 25, was driving north on Highway 21 when he slammed into Douglas Pounds, 68. Paquid hit Pounds at such a high speed that it caused Pounds’ vehicle to rotate clockwise and flip several times before stopping upside down.
Pounds was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was suspected of alcohol use at the time of the wreck. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and later died of them.
Paquid received no injuries and tested negative to alcohol and drugs. He has been charged with Negligent Homicide, Driving with a Suspended License, and Following Too Closely.
