HAMMOND, LA — Approximately 1:15 on the afternoon of January 20, 2012, Livingston Parish Sheriff's Deputies were notified of a possible domestic disturbance involving a possible shooting in the Albany area. Upon arrival at a mobile home park located on Strawberry Lane, Hammond, La. (which is actually located in Livingston Parish) Deputies discovered Scott J. Hardy , 36, suffering what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his back.
An Acadian Ambulance Service ground unit transported Hardy to a Hammond area hospital for treatment of what are described as life threatening critical injuries. He was later transferred to a New Orleans area hospital.
The victim’s father, George W. Hardy, Jr., 54, was taken into custody by LPSO Detectives for questioning and charged as follows, Attempted First Degree Murder, Child Desertion, Illegal Use of a Weapon.
The child desertion charge was filed because a two year old child was inside the mobile home at the time of the shooting. Detectives recovered the shotgun used in the shooting, which was preceded by an argument between the two men.
The father and son shared the mobile home as their residence.
George W. Hardy, Jr. is being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center in lieu of an $85,500.00 bond.
