First of Angola Five convicted of killing guard
ST. FRANCISVILLE, LA (FOX44) - The first of the Angola five has been convicted of killing a prison guard during an escape attempt that happened in 1999.
A jury in St. Francisville found Cameron Clark guilty of first degree murder on May 15.
Clark and four other Angola inmates are charged with beating and stabbing Captain David Knapps, an Angola prison guard, to death.
Clark represented himself in the trial. It took the jury less than two hours to deliberate.
Clark could face the death penalty.
He is already serving a life sentence at Angola for murder.
