HOLLYWOOD, CA (FOX44) – New romantic comedy "The Five Year Engagement" chronicling a couple's long road to matrimony. Stars of the movie talk about what and what not to do for reception speeches and Blunt's wedding to actor John Krazinski.
The film teams up Emily Blunt and Jason Segel in the comedy about a couple who lets the wedding process drag on a little too long. The cast had a tough time personally in relating to the movie's main premise.
Segel: "You get caught up in the excitement of the engagement, crack the whip get on with it."
Segel: “My advice for any girl who's dating me is lock this up.”
Although Jason is only 32-years-old, it seems his memory is a bit faulty about attending Emily’s wedding to real-life husband John Krazinski.
Blunt: "Have you ever done a best man speech?”
Segal: "No I haven't, I haven't been asked, I was supposed to do it at your wedding."
Blunt: "No you weren't Jason."
Blunt: "I thought you said can you do the best man speech."
Blunt: "You weren't invited. “
Segel: "I’m amazed that I wasn't invited, we weren't as close then, this was one of the things I was going to say, I am transferring Emily to."
Blunt: "You were giving me away, what would my father have done."
Segel: "We could of done it both on either side.”
Blunt: "Do you think he would have liked that."
And they have a few simple rules for speeches at the reception.
Segel: "You want 10-percent roast.”
Blunt: "I think good childhood stories."
Segel: "Don't be too drunk when you do the speech, you'll want to, oh this will loosen things up."
Blunt: "And don't say anything crappy about the wife.”
