BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - Members of the armed forces and their families came out to the state capitol for the eighth Annual Military Family Day.
It's a day of Remembrance for the thirteen Louisiana soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year.
The Blue Star moms hosted the event.
State lawmakers recognized the service record of fallen soldiers from their district, and presented their families with a folded American flag.
Alicia Richard's son was remembered today. She says events like this help others remember what her son did for his country.
"It says that he is appreciated and will never be forgotten, the biggest fear we have is that our son will be forgotten, this is one way to make sure he and none other will be,” said Alicia Richard.
