Tuesday, October 5, 2010 - 3:18pm

If you want to have a say in the future of Baton Rouge, here's your chance.

Tonight, Future BR will hold a launch party it's new survey. The questionaire gives people in the community a chance to let the city Planning Commission know what kind of development they'd like to see in Baton Rouge over the next 20 years.

Future BR is the next phase of planning for the city. Officials say its time to update that plan and they want as many people as possible to offer an opinion on what happens next.

Tonight, the survey will be handed out, but also people will see a video with different development scenarios. Then, they can choose their favorites. Officials want as many people as possible to be at the event.

"This is incredibly important," says Lael Holton, a spokesperson for the Planning Commission. "This will help determine how their neighborhoods, how their city parish, develops over the next 20 years. We need their voice."

If you can't make it tonight, not to worry. Those surveys will be in all community centers across the city parish, libraries, and student unions at the local universities. You can also find the survey online at www.futurebr.com.
