A local store owner is in the hospital tonight after a robbery on Scotland Avenue in North Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge Police said it happened around 4:00 p.m. at the Sewell's and Son grocery store.

Police say the robber walked into the store, shot the clerk, and made off with an unknown amount of cash. Police said that the clerk was taken to a local hospital and will recover.

But neighbors like Michael James says things like this never happen in this neighborhood.

"This is the first time something like that ever happened, i was shocked when I got off the bus and saw the police cars around there." said Neighbor Micheal James
