Gun found during search at Woodlawn High School
Student booked in Juvenile Detention
BATON ROUGE (WVLA) - A gun was found in the trash can at Woodlawn High School. Today the School Drug Task Force and School Board Security found the gun after performing a random search.
Deputies were conducting a random search of the school when the gun was found in the school gymnasium. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s says that a four-teen-year-old ninth grade student allegedly took the .25 automatic pistol from his parent’s home without their knowledge.
The boy told deputies he planned to use the pistol recreationally over the weekend while visiting a relative. The student hid the gun when he learned about the search. No threats to other students have been reported, but the student has been charged with Illegally Carrying of a Firearm by a Student onto school grounds. He will be booked into Juvenile Detention.
