BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — The Honeywell Plant in Baton Rouge is getting a $33 million upgrade. Governor Jindal made the announcement at the State Capital Wednesday, July 6.

The river front plant in downtown Baton Rouge is a leading manufacturer of refrigerant. New Jersey-based Honeywell earned over $4 billion in sales in 2010, according to company president Andreas Kramvis.

The facility expansion will retain 200 current jobs and add 11 new direct jobs with average salary topping $60,000.

Under new guidelines passed by the Environmental Protection Agency, the plant would have to stop manufacturing its current product by 2020. Honeywell will shift its focus to an environmentally friendly product.

Construction on the expansion is expected to be completed by 2013.
