Iconic rapper Adam Yauch of Beastie Boys dies of cancer
NATIONAL NEWS — Music icon Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys dies today at the age of 47, according to Billboard Magazine.
In 2009 Yauch announced that he had a cancerous parotic gland. Several shows were canceled, including top bill for Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. He underwent surgery and radiation therapy for treatment. In January of 2011, Yauch seemed to be improving.
The Beastie Boys came together in 1983 in Brooklyn and rose to fame with the release of the debut album “Licensed To Ill.” The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month.
