NEW ORLEANS, La (FOX44) — Workers in New Orleansare busy decorating Jackson Square for the holidays.

The city's iconic square gets covered with yards of garland, 70 giant red velvet bows and tens of thousands twinkling white lights each year.

If you want to watch the lights go on for the first time, you can head down to New Orleans on December 1 for the French Quarter Festival's Annual Christmas Kickoff.

The lighting will be followed by a Christmas concert with New Orleans jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis inside St. Louis Cathedral.
