Jim Tucker announces his run for Secretary of State
BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - Jim Tucker announces he's running for Secretary of State in the October election..
Tucker, a Republican from Terrytown, announced his candidacy Monday to the Press Club of Baton Rouge.
The term-limited lawmaker says he expects the race to cost about $1 million.
He says if elected, he'd focus on helping small businesses registering with the state, protecting state archives and running fair elections.
By getting into the October 22nd primary, Tucker will be taking on two other Republicans, current officeholder Tom Schedler and Rep. Walker Hines of New Orleans.
Schedler took over as Secretary of State when Jay Dardenne was elected Lt. Governor.
