Trial expected to start Wednesday
NEW ROADS, La (WGMB)--After more than a year of waiting, the 2009 murder of Davina Chapman is going to trial.
Jury selection started Monday morning with attorneys questioning about 300 parish residents at the courthouse.
Chapman's body was found under the four mile bridge in the parish back in July 2009. Chapman's then boyfriend Larry John Snyder is charged with kidnapping and murdering her.
Snyder is still in prison, but he was in the court room as both sides of the case questioned potential jurors.
Chapmans family says they've waited a long time for justice.
"It's alot of anxiety wondering what's gonna happen next, if he's gonna get out, if something's gonna go wrong," says Denise Kimball, Chapman's aunt.
The jury interviews went late Monday night. Attorneys say they should be able to narrow it down to 12 by Tuesday. Meaning the trial would get underway on Wednesday.
