Kayaking down the Mississippi for a good cause
BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — Three kayakers on a fundraising trip down the Mississippi River have arrived in Baton Rouge.
Bowman Hitchens, Rob Treppendahl and Max Zoghbi have paddled from Minnesota all the way to Baton Rouge over the last 58 days. It's a trip they've nicknamed "A Wake in the Current". The more than two-thousand mile journey has raised a total of thirty-five thousand dollars. Fifteen thousand dollars will go to students at Gardere Community Christian School.
East Baton Rouge Parish and the city of Baton Rouge have proclaimed today "A Wake in the Current" day. The three friends will end their long journey when they arrive in New Orleans in a couple of days.
