La man catches massive alligator

BOGALUSA, LA (FOX44) -- Alan Wade pulled a massive catch on Monday, Sept. 26 - an 11 foot, 6 inch alligator.

The largest alligator ever recorded was caught in Louisiana. It was 19 feet 2 inches and was found on Marsh Island. However, this more than 11 foot monster caught in Bogalusa is still well above the average.


Fun Facts about Alligators:
There are two living alligator species: the American Alligator and the Chinese Alligator.

A large alligator will glow red eyes, but a smaller alligator will glow green eyes when light is shined on them.

The lifespan of an alligator is about 50 years or more. A 70 year old alligator has been living at a zoo in Serbia since 1936.

They can run for short distances at a speed of up to 30 miles per hour.
