BAKER, La (FOX44) - Students at Baker High School could have a longer school year. They've been missing class, because the school doesn't have air conditioning, and they'll have to make up that time, later.
Superintendent of Baker schools says A/C trouble is just one of many maintenance problems carried over from the East Baton Rouge Parish School system, when they broke away back in 2003. Superintendent Ulysses Joseph says the air conditioning system at Baker High does need to be replaced, but they can't afford the 116-thousand dollar price tag for a new one. Instead, a temporary unit will be installed, in case the air continues to fail next week.
The baker School Board is trying to work out a more permanent solution.
