In the case to try and free Tony, the truck stop tiger, was in court today.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund filed suit against The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries saying they were breaking the law by issuing the permit which keeps tony in captivity.
Known as Tony the tiger, the animal is on display at a truck stop in Iberville Parish.
Animal rights groups have tried for years to get a new home for the big cat, but have had no luck.
Now, advocates say wildlife and fisheries is violating state law by giving the tiger's owner, Micheal Sandlin, a permit.
