LEAP Test to become a thing of the past
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A state-wide exam given to fourth and eighth graders will be gone in the next several years.
The LEAP Test, which students have to pass to move to the fifth and ninth grades, will be phased out over the next three years. That's because new tests will be given starting in the 2014 school year.
They are part of a nationwide campaign to make public school courses a little more strict.
The BESE Board will have to decide whether fourth and eighth graders will have to pass those tests to move up to the next level.
