LSU Greeks with Habitat for Humanity build houses
BATON ROUGE (FOX44) - Saturday LSU Greeks teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to build new houses on Elvin Drive in Baton Rouge.
They were working in shifts since 7:00 this morning. It was part of a seven day build called "Greek Week". LSU students and Habitat volunteers hammered, sawed, and framed brand new houses for less fortunate people.
This year, the lsu greeks raised more than $120,000.00 with letters addressed to friends and family members for donations for Habitat.
LSU greek director Justina Ruch says it's the reactions from people in the neighborhood that mean the most.
"We built two houses on the other side of the street last year, and the home owner came up to us and said thank you so much. Because I saw the greeks were out, people danicing in the street, I heard the energy, I knew they were back."
