At LSU, a memorial service paid tribute to some of the school's fallen heroes, former students who died in the line of duty.
One of those former students was specially honored today. Corporal Nathan Brock Carse graduated from LSU in 2007. He was killed February of this year during combat operations in Afghanistan.
Monday, Carse took his place among LSU's fallen soldiers. His name was engraved on the Wall of Honor at the War Memorial on campus. It's a tribute, his mother says, he truly deserves.
"He was such a special person," says Janis Carse. "He accomplished so much in life in his 32 years that most people accomplish late into their years. He was a dedicated person. Everything he did, he did 100%. His favorite saying was do it right."
Janis Carse joined her daughter and brother for the memorial ceremony. She says she is extremely proud of her son's accomplishments, and the sacrifice he made for this country.
