LSU Scientists say "new oil" is not from BP
BATON ROUGE (FOX44) - Tests are in that show the oil recently spotted in the Gulf of Mexico is *not* from BP's spill.
LSU scientists say this stuff is in fact fresh south Louisiana crude.
The slick was spotted by fishermen Wednesday morning off the coast of Venice.
Ed Overton and his team say after examining the oil, it still contains "light volatiles" which means it can not possibly be the same oil .. from last year's catastrophe.
"We looked to see if there's any differences in any of the patterns between the two oils, and we found plenty of differences between this recent oil in Plaquemines and and the BP spill." said Buffy Meyer, a Research Associate at LSU.
