LSU student charged with rape
Witnesses told police they caught him in the act
BATON ROUGE, La (WGMB)--An LSU student is facing rape charges after witnesses say they caught him in the act.
It happened friday night outside of an apartment complex in Baton Rouge.
Sheriff's deputies say a witness told them he saw 19 year old Austin Lawley having intercourse with a woman who appeared to be unconscious.
The witness called police.
When deputies arrived, Lawley told them he met the woman at a bar but denied having sex with her.
Deputies arrested Lawley after he tried to give them a fake ID.
Lawley is still living on campus, but some students say, they want him out.
"It just doesn't look good for him," said LSU freshman Stephanie Giampola. Hhe shouldn't be around the population of the school in my opinion."
"I don't think the guy should be allowed to live on campus at all," said LSU freshman Penoit Lebrun. "It's just completely out of line with LSU."
Lawley is charged with one count of rape and another of posessing a fake ID.
LSU Police say they're working with the EBR Sheriff's Department on the investigation.
