LSU tightens financial belt without laying off employees
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — LSU is tightening its belt, as the university look to cut over $8-million from its operating budget, without laying off employees.
Forty vacant positions will not be filled, and twenty other positions will now be funded by different departments.
Seventeen of those are in the Academic Center for Student Athletes. They will now be funded by the Athletic Department.
The cuts come in response to state budget cuts of $50-million to higher education for all public universities.
