LSU's PMAC decked out in pink for Nancy Brinker speech
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) -- LSU's PMAC decked out in pink tonight in honor of a special guest.
October is breast cancer awareness month and Nancy Brinker came to campus to speak about her cause. Brinker is the founder of the Susan G Komen race for the cure.
Brinker's sister Suzie died of breast cancer over 30 years ago. In honor, her sister, Nancy, has turned the foundation into the largest breast cancer awareness group in the world.
For her efforts, Brinker was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama in 2009.
"My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago,” a young woman attending the event, said when explaining her reason for attending the event. “She's in remission now, so I really wanted to come out and show my support because breast cancer's close to my heart."
