Man charged with Attempted First Degree Murder at carwash

BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — Baton Rouge Police Violent Crimes Detectives arrested Dasmond Franklin, 19, of Baton Rouge for a shooting that occurred on Friday August 12, 2011 around 1:19 a.m. at a carwash located at 4200 North Foster Drive.

Police were dispatched to the area of Sherwood Street and North Foster Drive in reference to shots being fired Officers arrived in the area shortly after receiving the call and observed several people fleeing on foot. Officers immediately began checking the area for victims, witnesses and suspects. While doing so officers detained Franklin as he was seen running from the area. The victim advised police he was walking with a group near the carwash when he was shot. After further investigation investigators determined that Franklin was the shooter.

Franklin was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail and charged with Attempted First Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

The victim, a 23 year male was transported to a local hospital in a private owned vehicle with a non-life threatening injury.
