BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - Despite all of the bad weather, the Mardi Gras weekend was a raging success for the downtown Baton Rouge area.
Many parade goers did not let the the threat of severe rain, flash floods, and tornadoes stop them. Still, the crowds were a bit smaller than last year, mostly due to the weather.
Everyone that went out seemed to enjoy their time at the Spanishtown and Krewe of Poseidon parades. Downtown Development Director Davis Rhorer agreed that it was a great weekend for the city.
"We've seen them just grow in attendance incredibly, even this past weekend with as bad as the storms were", stated Rhorer. "You saw the huge crowds that came out on Saturday for the Spanishtown parade."
