Marucci Bats making impact in MLB

BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - With the start of America’s Pastime just two days away, you won't be able to catch any of the games here in Baton Rouge, or in Louisiana for that matter. However, the Capital City will still have a big impact on Major League Baseball.

“A lot of people don't know what we're doing - to service guys like Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, and Chase Utley. Strangers and family members don't realize,” said Kyle Ourso of Marucci Operations.

The idea began in 2002 when Jack Marucci, the Director of Athletic Training at LSU, had an idea.

“Jack starting cutting bats in his back yard for his son Gino,” stated Kurt Ainsworth, co-owner of Marucci Bat Comapny. “To make a long story short, we got together and started a bat company here in Baton Rouge.”

Since then, the Marucci Bat Company has never looked back.

“Several years later, we have had success at the Major League level. Over 300 players have swung our bats. We look forward to another great year”, said Ainsworth.

While the size of the manufacturing facility isn’t very large, the folks at Marucci’s main focus is making a quality product.

Ainsworth stated, “People see our bats on TV all the time and think we are mass producing bats. We are making select bats for some of the best players in the game. We handcraft them and go above and beyond.”

So no matter how far away from the action you are this season, the bat is always close to home.
